Job Description
Summary


The person in this position is responsible for maintaining electronic records for railroad field personnel, and acting as a service agent between management teams and train and engine service (T&E) personnel. Answering field emergency calls. Dispatching maintainers to crossing malfunctions. Working with the proper personnel to protect malfunctioning crossings.


Responsibilities


  • Receive incoming emergency calls
  • Assist in activities that support the operation of the train and engine crew, including but not limited to arranging crew lodging, transportation and job assignments.
  • Contact emergency personnel, working with internal and external departments
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for ticketing and tracking incidents
  • Respond to directives from field managers and public authorities.
  • Ensure that T&E positions are filled so that G&W North American railroads can operate in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Evaluate and monitor train and engine service inactivity and adjust the workforce levels as required to meet service demands.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Perform various administrative duties relative to federal hours-of-service requirements.


Required Skills And/Or Experience


  • Sound judgment and decision making skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts as required to include weekends and holidays, 24/7 operation.
  • Must be able to communicate, and listen via telephone, while actively working between multiple programs or data sources.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, etc.


Required Education And/Or Credentials


  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Previous experience working in a call center or office environment preferred, but not required.
