Anticipated length of Internship: 4 months (Completion of sophomore year preferred)
Location: Arundel Center, 44 Calvert Street, Annapolis, MD 21401
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Schedule flexibility is available)

Preferred skills:
- Eagerness to learn and has ability to learn independently
- An understanding of the common ports/protocols (e.g., ssh, netbios, telnet, snmp, smtp, http/s, ftp)
- A high-level understanding of networking and IPv4
- Dependable transportation
- Attention to detail
- An understanding of security solutions such as antivirus, firewalls, content controls, and vulnerability scanners.
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent presentation and communication skills to effectively communicate with management and customers
- A good understanding of Windows Server, Windows 10, and Active Directory configuration
- A solid understanding of TCP/IP
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
- A high-level understanding of vulnerabilities and vulnerability research
- Ability to clearly articulate complex concepts (both written and verbally)
- Effective time management skills
Briefly describe the main purpose of the internship:
This internship is an extension of academic instruction and provides the opportunity to turn classroom instruction into practical application in the workplace. The intern will draw upon the knowledge gained through their college coursework in order to perform the principal assignment and/or projects of this internship. The intern will work directly with the Anne Arundel County cybersecurity officer and assist in the development of security policies and procedures, conducting security controls assessments, validating system configurations, identifying security weaknesses, performing vulnerability scans, and reporting findings to management for prioritization and remediation.

The intern will assist and learn about risk management, vulnerability assessments, and incident response, and gain hands-on experience with technologies used at most organizations.

The intern will develop an understanding of how cybersecurity is a service and how it aligns with the needs and mission of the organization.
