Come join our new state of the art OUTPATIENT Rehab center as a PEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST. Ideal candidate has experience treating outpatient pediatrics, but will interview candidates with strong student clinicals in outpatient pediatrics and strong desire to specialize in outpatient pediatrics. New team member should have interest in being part of a multidisciplinary feeding team for children with sensory-based feeding disorders, as well as an interest in treating children of all ages and abilities. Schedule is 4, 10-hour days (8-6:30) and must include Fridays as one of the days.
As an Occupational Therapist 1, you will adhere to department policies regarding timeframe, form and content of written evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries. To help achieve our mission, you will communicate effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts while completing all administrative tasks and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit.
Job Responsibilities:
- Showcases current knowledge of the application of therapeutic techniques and evaluation methods.
- Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
- Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines – adjusting the treatment plan as needed.
- Documents evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy.
- Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' level of understanding and motivation.
- Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education.
- Assumes complete responsibility over the course of Occupational Therapy patient management from the time of initial contact to discharge for functional progress, safety and treatment outcomes.
Requirements:
Education: M.S. in Occupational Therapy
Certification: BLS through American Heart Association (AHA)
Licensure: VA License required
Special Skills: Basic computer knowledge, proficient in English verbal and written skill
