Tape is currently incubating with a focus on NY and operating as a private app that provides access to a community of culture creators and enterprises and invitations to events, openings and more.
The founding team members are media & tech vets now dedicated to mobilizing the world to experience what’s happening right now.
Role:
The role is responsible for overseeing programming output on Tape (arts, music, food, drink and shopping). We are seeking a savvy and detail-oriented person to join a growing team. The role will combine operational and curatorial responsibilities with a keen eye for both details and aesthetics. Currently Tape is focused on serving a worldly, cultured NYC audience so the programming will be focused on NYC cultural happenings, as well as select happenings in culture capitals (London, LA, Paris etc) plus culture festivals and other cultural destinations & happenings. What you’ll do:
Strategic
- Establish a cadence of publishing through a network of contributors and curators as well as direct relationships with partners
- Establish a discernible Tape POV working from the current Tape editorial selection framework. Create a discernible voice that differentiates Tape as the must-go-to app for what’s up in culture, and how to get the inside track
- Break new strategic relationships with key culture venues, hospitality groups, PR firms, editors and cultural players as well as business partners
- Expand our network of artists, chefs, musicians, bartenders, filmmakers, directors, curators and founders
Operational
- Pull and curate assets received from partners via curators/contributing editors
- Manage the daily publishing process including CMS
- Write Tape loglines and descriptions for listings
- Communicate with all curators and contributing editors to ensure assets and copy is received in a timely manner
- Review and proofread all listings being published and edit copy as needed
Curatorial
- Own the quality of Tape’s culture output across the app
- Devise ongoing newsletter publishing plan with curation & writing or supervision of newsletter creation & copy
- Monthly outreach to our art and culture partners for latest shows and events
- Supervise publishing team in their daily tasks
- Write copy in collaboration with key Tape clients & partners
- Research and curate new experiences in NYC and beyond including restaurants/bars/cultural events
- Curate the selection featured profiles
- Create weekly topical playlists related to culture festivals and cultural calendar
- Build our contributor/curator network
What you’ll bring:

- Hands on experience with CMS, research and publishing/production workflows
- Relationships within the cultural and publicity sectors.
- Collaborative and team-oriented work approach with keen ability to communicate and work in fast paced environment, bring critical thinking and a visual aesthetic to the work
- Background and experience in editorial, knowledge in arts & culture topics, strong visual aesthetic and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to think and work independently but also equally be a team player
- Dependability, accountability and proven organizational skills
- Passion for discovering new and memorable experiences
Contract
Full-time Independent Contractor working on a hybrid schedule with in-person collaboration at our Brooklyn HQ.
The estimated monthly rate is $5,000-$7,000 which equates to an annualized salary of $60,000 - $85,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including but not limited to experience and qualifications.
