REPORTS TO: Supervisor

Adagio Health is looking to hire a full-time Nutritionist for its Alle-Kiski office in New Kensington, PA to serve Westmoreland and Armstrong County partners. The pay for this position is $19.40/hour
Adagio Health supports two key Nutrition Programs: WIC provides nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education for pregnant and postpartum women and children from infancy through age 5, and Power Up provides nutrition education and physical activity promotion to school age kids in PreK through high school, adults, and seniors to make the healthy choice, the easy choice.
To be successful in this role, you need a bachelor's degree in nutrition, public health, or related field, strong interpersonal and coaching skills, and a desire to make a difference in the lives of our clients.
Power Up: Adagio Health Power Up provides nutrition education centered on the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and promotes a healthy lifestyle to a diverse population in a variety of settings. Our program reaches preschool, school-age, adult and senior members in our communities. You will also team up with community partners as well as school leaders to help improve the wellness of those participating in our program through Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) change initiatives.
WIC: Adagio Health WIC focuses on nutrition education, assessments, and counseling of our WIC Participants, as well as being proficient in all aspects of certifying WIC Participants on the program. A typical day might include counseling and educating participants over-the-phone, offering breastfeeding support and referrals, tailoring food packages to ensure supplemental needs are met for each specific family, in addition to documenting and scheduling participants.
Responsibilities
Adagio Health's Nutrition & Education Department includes two major programs 1. Power Up a SNAP-Education program and 2. the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The Adagio Health Nutritionist will work in all nutrition programs within their service area to increase nutrition knowledge of the low-income population.
  • Determines program participant eligibility consistent with regulations and policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Transports and assembles equipment required for satellite/off-site/partner-site program delivery.
  • Completes nutrition assessment including the nutrition care plan, nutritional risk determination, and food package prescription.
  • Builds relationships with and maintains regular communication with program partners.
  • Makes referrals to outside social services as needed.
  • Provides high quality customer service, participant recruitment, and marketing interventions.
  • Ensures all nutrition education is delivered as intended following Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) standards, program guidance, and USDA guidelines.
  • Supports breastfeeding initiatives; Performs breastfeeding counseling and education in coordination with breastfeeding peer counselors.

  • Provides individualized nutrition education to program participants using state agency approved counseling techniques.
  • Supports and participates in marketing activities being undertaken for the office/program.
  • Initiates, leads, and provides technical assistance on PSE projects based on customized annual plan in conjunction with PSE Coordinator.
  • Customer Service & Outreach
  • Initiates and delivers engaging nutrition education to a variety of audiences.
  • Completes all required documentation, data tracking, and data entry by determined deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in dietetics, human nutrition, food and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management, public health, education or closely related fields from an accredited college or university.
