ABOUT NORTHSTAR: NorthStar Clubhouse is an evidence-based mental health recovery program operating under New Narrative Integrative Mental Health and accredited by Clubhouse International. The Clubhouse is split into several units: Nutrition & Wellness, Membership, Operations, and Employment & Education. The Clubhouse Model is a specialized form of community-based psychosocial rehabilitation that uses shared tasks as the medium for positive growth. By participating in the Clubhouse, members build relationships, routine, increase confidence, and find a renewed sense of purpose.


GENERAL STAFF DESCRIPTION: Staff generate member involvement in all aspects of clubhouse operations as a means to facilitate member’s personal recovery goals. Staff are generalists and support other staff and departments as needed.


All Staff Duties


  • Assisting with Transitional Employment positions and covering shifts when member employees are not able to report for their placement
  • Rotating with other staff to cover occasional weekend, holiday, and after hour events
  • Linking members to community services
  • Attending multiple meetings throughout the day
  • Working with members on the daily tasks to promote confidence, connection, skills, satisfaction, stabilization, and their personal goals


POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Nutrition and Wellness Coordinator has two primary roles: carrying out the duties of the Nutrition and Wellness Unit and engaging members in the involvement in those duties.


Nutrition and Wellness Coordinator Duties


  • Maintain high-quality food standards and is knowledgeable on food safety and sanitation standards
  • Coordinate grocery shopping for meal ingredients
  • Work with members to determine the weekly menu for the Clubhouse lunches
  • Work with members to cook and serve the daily lunch. Engage membership in cleaning the kitchen and dining room
  • Working side by side with members in all aspects of the Nutrition and Wellness Unit
  • Work with members to grow and maintain our garden, using crops to support our meals


Minimum Qualifications


  • Valid Oregon Driver's License and current insurance/acceptable driving record
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs such as google and microsoft suite
  • Skilled in using trauma informed principles
  • Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness; a degree in a related field, or 1/more years work experience, or relevant trainings/certifications
  • Good telephone etiquette, time management, organizational skills, and flexibility
  • Ability to establish relationships rooted in mutuality, curiosity, and hope
  • Exemplify cultural humility


Additional Skills And/or Certifications


  • Experience using software like canva and mailchimp
  • Bilingual candidates preferred
  • Experience with or knowledge of the Clubhouse International Rehabilitative model
  • Peer Support Specialist Certification, bystander intervention training, crisis support or de-escalation training, Mental Health First Aid, etc.


Physical Requirements:


  • Prolonged periods sitting at a computer
  • Navigating a single level multi-room office setting. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions


HIRING PROCESS:


Members are involved in each step of the hiring process. The first step is a brief phone screening. Second is an initial in-person or zoom interview that is open to the hiring committee. Third is a final interview that is open to the whole community, which can be a larger group. We will need 2-3 references. The selected candidate will need to pass a background check and get fingerprinted.


Job type:


Full-time (40 hours)


Schedule is Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with occasional evenings/weekends/holidays


Pay: $22/hour
