Part-time employees will receive some of the benefits listed above on a prorated basis. Candidates hired into positions that are less than 60% of a full-time position may not be eligible for all benefits.
Position Summary
These positions are responsible for assisting in the provision of health care and services to inmates in a correctional institution infirmary or health services unit. Duties include assisting Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Physicians with direct patient care, clerical functions, and assigned duties in maintaining day-to-day functioning in a 24/7 unit operation.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule/range 06-12 with a starting pay rate of $20.37/hour , plus excellent benefits.
Depending on the facility where the position is located, some of these vacancies may be eligible for a temporary $5.00/hr add on for all hours worked. You can inquire at the time you are offered an interview about that facility’s current status. The temporary add-on(s) are approved through the date of implementation of the 2023-2025 State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensations Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting .

Qualifications
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Applicants must possess current CPR certification at time of hire and maintain certification during employment.
Qualified Applicants will have experience:
Using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), performing CPR, and performing First Aid.
Making accurate and complete observations and assessing patient status regarding changes in physical and mental condition of patients.
Initiating action in emergency situations.
Maintaining a helpful and understanding attitude towards adults exhibiting hostile or other negative behavior.
Working with a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural population.
Well qualified candidates will be registered or eligible for registration as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Wisconsin .
