About the Nurse Residency Program
Lakeland Regional Health (LRH) promises to treasure, nurture and inspire all our newly hired and transferring new Registered Nurses through a comprehensive, learner-centered one-year Nurse Residency Program. The program supports the successful transition of the new nurse into a professional role in an acute care setting in one of the following patient care areas:
• Acute Care Services (Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Palliative, Orthopedics, Nephrology) • Intermediate Care Services (Medical, Cardiac, Trauma, Neuro/Stroke) •Critical Care Services(SICU, TICU, MICU) • Emergency Services (Main ED, Pedi ED) • Behavioral Health Services (Mental Health ) • Women’s and Children’s Services (Pediatrics, Pediatric ED, Mother/Baby, Labor and Delivery, NICU) • Perioperative Services (OR, PACU)*• Cardiac Cath Lab*
The program has two tracks: a traditional and a tiered specialty with pathways designed especially for the novice nurse and nursing specialty.
Traditional Pathway: designed to build foundations in nursing specialties, primarily acute care and intermediate care. Residents can later choose to apply to a nursing specialty fellowship program.
Tiered Specialty Track: designed to build foundations in an initial nursing specialty and then enter a Nursing Specialty Fellowship Program at month six. The nursing resident is prepared to successfully transition into a new specialty at 1 year.
