- Develops a communication network among Human Resources, Nurse Managers and Nursing Education to assist in recruitment activity.
- Maintains a pool of active applications (RN, LPN, NA, other)
- Conducts initial interviews with selected employee candidates and schedules second interviews with Nurse Managers as indicated.
- Reviews and categorizes employment applications and resumes for appropriateness to nursing department positions.
Data Analysis
- Provides recommendations for position modification
- Creates monthly recruitment report and open position report
- Maintains statistical data to include but not limited to interviews conducted, numbers hired, turnover rates, percentage of open positions and responses to recruitment strategies.
- Tracks and trends open positions
- Researches and communicates nursing employment trends on the national, state and community level.
Marketing
- Attends external/internal career fairs to promote employment
- Markets hospital recruitment activities
- Acts as the hospital representative
- Maintains relationships with Schools of Nursing to foster recruitment efforts
- Creates advertisements for newspapers, nursing magazines, etc.
Collegiality/Professionalism
- Participates in and supports decisions made by management
- Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of staff and peers
- Accepts feedback from staff members and management for the purpose of improving recruitment and retention activities.
- Demonstrates the ability to confront peers with staffing/recruitment issues as it relates to the retention of unit staff
- In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, and Nurse Educator, participates in the oversight of the orientation process for new unit personnel.
- Fulfills the annual requirements regarding continuing education
- Identifies educational opportunities for program development and/or individual employee needs.
- Maintains knowledge base through participation in learning situations such as departmental meetings, educational programs, professional association participation, journal review or committee membership
- Participates in the evaluation of the orientation program as it relates to recruitment activity.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory, practice and administration in order to oversee planning and implementation of a nursing department recruitment program and ability to prepare analyses, reports and policies at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an approved school of nursing.
Current New York State license as a LPN or RN.
Progressive related work experience necessary to gain knowledge of personnel management related personnel laws and employment practices.
Approximately three to five years progressively more responsible related work experiences necessary to gain full knowledge of organization and operation of an acute care-nursing department.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to maintain effective relationships with Human Resources, Nurse Managers, Nursing Education and a variety of hospital departments and professional affiliations.
Analytical skills necessary in order to organize and communicate relevant information to management to effectively support recruitment activity.
Advanced written and oral communication skills; including ability to effectively communicate in writing, in live presentation, via online or virtual mediums to include all current social media and via telephone in a way that builds relationships, inspires confidence, and creates an environment of transparency and inclusion.
Must be proficient with MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Power point and Outlook)
