Hiring Department
The School of Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine
This position will provide medical care primarily in the general cardiology clinic setting.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Prescribing and managing cardiac medication and other therapies
- Act as a resource for patients, families, nursing staff and other health care professionals in area of expertise.
- Collaborating with physicians and hospital staff to promote team-based patient care.
- Assist with screening patient’s conditions and needs.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plan accordingly
- Independently providing professional medical support for Cardiovascular Medicine services and the electrophysiology team.
- Evaluating and monitoring heart devices, such as pacemakers and defibrillators
- Interpreting lab results or cardiac test results
- Educating patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Setting treatment plans and prescribe appropriate actions to meet the plans within the established protocols such as:

Salary Range: $90,251 - $147,285 Annually
Grade: PAT - 012
University Title: Nurse Practitioner Specialty Care or Physician Assistant Specialty Care

Minimum Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner Specialty Care:
Education:
Master's degree is required.
Required Licensure or Certification:
Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
May possess a specialty certificate by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Pediatric Certification Nursing Board (PCNB), and the National Certification Corporation (NCC).
Licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Missouri and must be granted “Document of Recognition” as a certified nurse practitioner from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
Experience:
For Emergency Medicine positions: A minimum of two years’ experience as a nurse practitioner in an acute care area in an emergency medicine setting.
Physician Assistant Specialty Care:
Education:
Master’s degree required.
Required Licensure or Certification:
Graduation from an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited physician assistant program.
May possess a specialty certificate by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics or Psychiatry. Possession of a current Missouri license to practice as a licensed Physician Assistant is required.
Experience:
For Emergency Medicine positions: A minimum of two years’ experience as a physician assistant in an acute care area or completion of post-graduate PA residency/fellowship in an emergency medicine setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in adult Cardiovascular Medicine preferred.
