Position Summary

Washington University School of Medicine is pleased to announce the launch of the Surgical Specialty Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Fellowship Program. This is a paid, year-long fellowship with the Division of Urologic Surgery that will provide the opportunity for an individual to continue their education in a practical setting.
The fellow will experience a wide variety of clinical settings including outpatient, inpatient and peri-operative practice. These experiences will take place within the BJC Healthcare system. In addition, the fellow will participate in weekly continuing education sessions and have the opportunity to share in a research project.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• The fellow will experience a wide variety of clinical settings including outpatient, inpatient and peri-operative practice. These experiences will take place within the BJC Healthcare system. In addition, the fellow will participate in weekly continuing education sessions and have the opportunity to share in a research project.

Applicant Special Instructions

• Additionally, applicants must have successfully completed their program and be able to obtain their license within three months of starting the fellowship.
• Applicants must have a resume including their clinical experience, a reference letter from a preceptor and a reference letter from a professor/faculty member. Letters should be emailed to Gilbert Comola at [email protected].

Preferred Qualifications

• Ideal candidates are recent graduates of a NP or PA program who desire to advance their education in a surgical specialty. They will be prepared to step into inpatient or outpatient roles in Urologic Surgery.
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Required Qualifications

• REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, and able to obtain NP or PA license within three months of starting the fellowship.
• Graduates of an NP or PA program and clinical experience.
