Responsibilities
Must possess strong critical thinking skills pared with clinical knowledge and must be comfortable working in a mutually respective multi-discipline team environment that places the focus on the needs of the patient first. Provide comprehensive direct and indirect patient care in the outpatient setting within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner/physician assistant. Exercises autonomy in medical decision making and provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services in a variety of locations. May include off site services as directed. Provision of care includes, but is not limited to: comprehensive assessment and physical examination; ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests; diagnosing and directly managing acute and chronic disease; promoting wellness; provide prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments as well as non-pharmacological therapies; provide teaching and education for patients and their families regarding wellness and disease; and ordering appropriate referrals as indicated. Coordinate care with supervising/collaborating physician and specialists as needed.
Qualifications

License or Certification

Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from a Nurse Practitioner program. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer knowledge. Nurse Practitioner: Active WI RN license or eligibility to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin. National certification (ANCC or AANP) as a Nurse Practitioner. WI State APNP certification. Current BLS certification, DEA License required if applicable to practice specialty or location.
