Position Summary
The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a full time position to work within the division of Pulmonary Hypertension Center within the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. We offer care for our patients in over 25 specialty areas as well as individualized care for complex cases. Our Residency, Fellowship and Graduate programs are among the best in the Nation. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing clinical care within the outpatient practice of the Pulmonary Hypertension Center in Pediatric Cardiology.
Responsibilities
- Will work collaboratively with Physicians, NP peers, Registered Nurses, Research Coordinators, other members of the multidisciplinary care team, and administrative support staff.
- Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
- Render direct patient care during outpatient office hours including but not limited to: obtaining patients' history, performing comprehensive and targeted physical examinations, ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests, and diagnosing/managing chronic as well as acute patient problems.
- Responsible for counseling/educating patients and their caregivers on disease processes and care management as needed.
- Will be engaged in all aspects of patients' clinical care and work with other members of the care team to provide seamless care across all venues including outpatient, inpatient and clinical research venues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Board certification.
- BLS certification.
- Requires Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus one to two years of experience.
- DEA license.
- Current New York State NP and RN license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cardiology experience a plus.
Other Requirements
- Contact with patients and/or human research subjects.
- Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure.
- Wear N-95 respirator.
- Participation in medical surveillance program.
