Job Description
The Pediatric Rehabilitation/Feeding Unit provides 24-hour medical, nursing, respiratory and intensive therapy services.


The Neurorehabilitation program treats patients ranging from infants to young adults with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, chronic pain disorders, recovering from orthopedic surgery, and complex medical conditions.


This position is 36 hours per week, AM(7am-730pm)/PM(7pm-730am) rotation.

  • Provides quality nursing care by identifying individualized patient care needs/nursing diagnoses, and continually reevaluates and revises the plan of care as needed.
  • *Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.
  • Eligible for Maryland RN licensure.
  • Responsible for daily patient care, including completing the admission process, assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting the daily care of assigned patients, including a complete body systems assessment.
  • Provides nursing care to medically complex patients or patients requiring specialized nursing care (i.e., mechanical ventilation, sedation, blood products dialysis).
  • Utilizes the Nursing Process, Nursing Policies and Procedures, and Standards of Care, to guide nursing practice and safely and effectively deliver patient care.
  • Respects patient rights and advocates for patients and families as needed.
  • Attends educational seminars to maintain clinical skills. All patient cares, assessments, and medications will be verified and co-signed by RN preceptor.
  • Participates on at least one committee, attending 50% of the meetings and actively participating.
  • Conveys accurate, concise, and relevant information in the patient’s electronic medical record. Provides accurate and timely patient and caregiver education to ensure safe and timely discharge.
  • *Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by Kennedy Krieger Institute.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills and working relationships with patients, visitors and employees.


EDUCATION


  • Must be a graduate of an accredited RN Nursing Program.
  • BSN preferred.


EXPERIENCE


  • Experience with pediatric and/or developmental disabled population preferred.
