This position carries 26 credits of load per 10-month academic year of both instructional (20 credits) and administrative duties (6 credits) dependent on departmental needs (standard courses are 4 credits). This position is renewable at the end of each year upon mutual agreement. Applicants should be interested in teaching a broad range of undergraduate Kinesiology courses, with primary instructional responsibilities (3-5 classes each year) focused on Motor Control. Additional instructional responsibilities may include 1) Sports Psychology; 2) a Senior Inquiry course (our literature-based capstone course for Kinesiology majors) or upper level Kinesiology course based on candidate's background; 3) Introduction to Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, and/or January term or semester general education course, or non-majors course for first-year students. Administrative responsibilities may include: 1) coordinating and supervising Kinesiology internships and laboratory spaces; 2) advising Kinesiology majors; 3) working to secure Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) program certification; and 4) coordinating academic and curricular functions including assessment within the Kinesiology Program. We are particularly interested in candidates with a demonstrated passion for working with a diverse student population. We strongly encourage applicants, in their letter of application, to address how they will further this goal in their teaching and work with students. Additional information about the Kinesiology Program, and Augustana College can be found at www.augustana.edu/academics/areas-of-study/kinesiology .

The Kinesiology program builds upon the college's renowned and rigorous programs in the sciences, public health, and pre-health and contributes to developing one of the most comprehensive approaches to academic health and wellness programs at a small liberal arts college. The Kinesiology program is housed in the new Peter J. Lindberg M.D., Center for Health and Human Performance building and is equipped with state of the art performance lab and functional training lab spaces.

We require no scholarly research in this position. Professional faculty are welcome to be involved in the life of the department and college beyond their teaching and service. All faculty at Augustana are invited to engage in professional development and mentoring opportunities consistent with their needs throughout their appointment at the college.
Master's degree in Kinesiology or related field is required, but Ph.D. preferred (ABD candidates will be considered). The successful candidate must have expertise in Kinesiology with a focus in Motor Control through advanced education, teaching, and/or work-related experience, show a commitment to learning and employing innovative teaching and advising strategies and a passion for developing as a great teacher, commitment to fostering equity and inclusion, willingness to actively infuse multiple perspectives and critical thinking into pedagogy, and superior organizational, planning, communication (both written and oral) and supervisory skills.
