Job Overview


This position is responsible for standard level work designing, building, implementing and maintaining network and unified communication systems. Duties include analyzing network and unified communication requirements, system traffic and potential risks to identify areas of improvement and make recommendations to ensure organizational standards and needs are met.

Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: M-F 8 to 5. With on call responsibilities

Qualifications


EDUCATION –Associate degree in related field.

EXPERIENCE – Minimum of one (1) year of related experience.

EQUIVALENCY – Work related experience may be considered in lieu of degree on a year for year basis.

CERTIFICATION(S) – Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) within 12 months of hire.

No direct patient care.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.


  • Designs, builds, and implements Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), wireless, voice, video and clinical emergency alerting systems. Operationally manages infrastructure projects.
  • Assists in performing installations, upgrades, maintenance and technical duties supporting the operations of internal network and unified communication systems.
  • Participates in collaborating with various internal groups and external vendors to ensure all installations meet specifications. Ensures the resolution of problems.
  • Assists with analyzing the overall network and unified communication needs of the organization and translates requirements into detailed technical specifications.
  • Plans, documents, and implements network and unified communication infrastructure deployments and upgrades.
  • Evaluates network and unified communication requirements, performs analysis to determine required hardware and support services and provides recommendations to meet organizational and end user requirements.
  • Incorporates appropriate Quality of Service (QoS) for ensured application delivery.
  • Troubleshoots, mitigates and resolves network and unified communication systems related problems, outages, and incidents. Conducts Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) following significant service incidents.
  • Maintains and ensures a high level of network and unified communication security to ensure protection from disaster.
  • Analyzes and improves the redundancy, availability, and reliability of the network and unified communication infrastructure.
  • Monitors and analyzes system traffic, conducts cost and traffic analysis, and determines the best use of resources.
  • Supports and collaborates in the development of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes including change, incident, and problem management.
  • May share in on-site presentations and “lunch-and-learn” sessions. Participates in on-call responsibilities.

Decision Making: Decisions or recommendations on non-standardized situations are limited to relating organizational policies to specific cases. Brings non routine issues to supervisor. Problems that are not covered by guidelines or that are without precedent are taken up with the supervisor.

Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered, or presented and some degree of discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.

Supervision Received: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $86,522.54 to $129,783.82
Hourly Salary Range: $41.60 to $62.40
