Job Description
What You Will Do
We are currently looking for an experienced .NET software developer to join our team in support of the Chemistry division where you will develop and maintain a variety of applications that have impacts across the entire laboratory. The division provides essential capabilities including analytical chemistry and measurement science; physical chemistry and molecular spectroscopy; isotope and actinide science; nuclear and radiochemistry; nanoscience; material processing and characterization; and chemical engineering.
Our objective is to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-effective software and applications that meet business and operational needs in support of the LANL mission.
You will work on supporting and developing .NET applications for the Chemistry division and it's supporting groups. You must have extensive experience with .NET software development, demonstrate knowledge of development tools and processes as well as the ability to architect state-of-the-art web and mobile solutions. Multi-tasking and excellent organizational skills are a must in this position, and experience with mentoring junior developers.
About Our Team
The Software and Applications Engineering (SAE) Division supports Los Alamos National Laboratory's (LANL) enterprise application and performs software application development support, database development and administration, software quality management, and enterprise application consulting.
The SAE-3 Site Infrastructure, Mission, and Programs Software Group provides software engineering services, custom application development, and commercial off the shelf application implementations.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Extensive experience with .NET Web Forms, .NET MVC/Razor/Core. Preferably .NET Core 6+

  • Relational database experience MS SQL Server 2016+

  • Experience with ADO.NET, MS Entity Framework and/or Dapper

  • Proficiency in using Front end web technologies like Blazor, HTML5, JavaScript/jQuery, Ajax JSON

  • Experience working with automated testing tools (Selenium, Cypress, Eggplant)

  • Experience using secure coding practices.

Problem Solving
Solving unique Web development and production problems by using analytic ability and innovative thinking to meet budget, timetables, and objectives. Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems.
Education/Experience: Position typically requires a relevant bachelor's degree and a minimum of eight years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's Degree is preferred.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Agile team experience

  • Version control experience with Git or similar

  • Jira/Confluence experience

  • DevSecOps/DevOps knowledge is a plus.

Work Location: The work location for this position is telework and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Telework is defined as working from offsite but within 2hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
