The New York Post is seeking a seasoned Morning Assignment Editor (Mon-Fri, 7am-3pm) to lead our breaking news coverage.

Responsibilities Include

• Vet, assign and edit must-have news to get themorningstarted with an eye on all categories: hard news, politics, local, international, breaking and viral news
• Exhibit strong news judgment and attention to detail that set The Post’s story apart from other traditional media outlets
• Juggle multiple stories and reporters with of-the-moment deadlines

The Ideal Candidate Will Have/be

• Ability to capture The Post’s signature snappy style in both copy and headlines
• Eagerness to collaborate with reporters andeditorsacross the newsroom
• Have the editing chops to quickly turn copy and headlines into stories that sing in the Post’s signature style
• A competitive streak to break stories first and score big scoops — while having the ability to vet high level sourcing
• At least three to five years of experience in a breaking news in a breaking news environment or nationally-focused newsroom
• Ability to manage multiple reporters, writers and stories from pitch to publication
• Well versed in a wide array of social media platforms to quickly spot and execute stories that The Post can expand upon

Salary Range: $31,200 – $125,000
