The Boston Bolts possess more than 37 years of experience in bringing the world’s game to
communities across Massachusetts. In addition to overseeing youth teams across a full
developmental pathway, the Boston Bolts participate in the USL, the largest and fastest-growing
professional soccer organization in North America, with a team in the USL League Two.

Position Description
The Boston Bolts are currently seeking an outstanding soccer coach to join our MLS Next staff.
The MLS Next Head Coach will coach one (1) team, while assisting with other age groups and
collaborating with the entire technical staff at the Boston Bolts. We are seeking an individual
with an ability to lead individual player development and collective team development.
The Head Coach will be responsible for executing the Boston Bolts game model to ensure a
consistent and coherent identity across all of our Bolts teams. The Head Coach should possess
exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and be able to resolve conflict in a
professional manner.
This position reports to the Director of Coaching and is responsible for the development of youth
players according to the Boston Bolts Game Model and Player Development Philosophy.
Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of one (1) MLS Next team while assisting other Boston Bolts age

groups.

• Use session planning tools, individual performance planning, and technology resources
• In accordance with the Boston Bolts game model and player development philosophy
• Design and execute daily training sessions - four (4) training sessions per week per team

to ensure that all relevant player & game data is recorded

• Aid player development and motivation by providing positive and constructive feedback

that is delivered in an appropriate method

• Support coaches in the general control, management and conduct of MLS Next players,
• Support the design, implementation and management of the Boston Bolts’ Game Model

ensuring adherence to the Boston Bolts Code of Conduct

• Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the club’s policies and all applicable laws,
• Demonstrate a willingness to further personal knowledge and development

particularly regarding the safeguarding of youth/minor players

• Develop recruitment strategy in partnership with Boston Bolts coaching staff, and ensure

successful execution of said strategy

• Attend, assist and support other Boston Bolts MLS Next teams and events as requested
• Recruitment, selection, guidance, development and evaluation of youth soccer players

by the Sporting Director

• Conduct and participate in weekly staff meetings to address any administrative and

operational needs

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum USSF B License. USSF A License or foreign equivalent preferred
• Previous experience coaching in an MLS Next or other highly recognized development

team

• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive, cross-functional relationships

within the Boston Bolts organization

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when privy to sensitive

information

• Additional expert knowledge in other areas of youth development preferred (for example

Goalkeeping, Sports Performance, Video Analysis, Child Education, Sports Medicine or
Psychology)

• Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills
• High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and

compliance

• Ability to consistently work from the Boston Bolts office in Newton, MA
• Willing and able to work evenings, weekends and regularly travel to out of town games

and events
