Position Title
Assistant Women's Soccer Coach (1st Assistant)

Position Summary
The Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach (1st Assistant) is responsible for assisting the Head Women’s Soccer Coach in all aspects of the women’s soccer program. Primary tasks include but are limited to coaching, student-athlete development, recruiting, and team practices. This position reports to the Head Women’s Soccer Coach.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you, as the employee, to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

  • Assists in conducting film analysis and reviewing films with the student-athletes.
  • Assists in the development of student-athletes, both academically and athletically.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assists with coaching/teaching student-athletes to the best of their ability.
  • Manages team and game events, daily team operations, game preparations for video editing, and pre and post-game scouting.
  • Assists the Head Coach in running the day-to-day activities.
  • Assists with designing and implementing training programs.

  • Proactively communicates with high school and club coaches, and prospective student-athletes on the benefits of UIW Women’s Soccer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and recruits student-athletes.

  • Assists with social media, fundraising, camps, and clinics.
  • Plans and prepares recruiting visits and yearly recruiting events.
  • Develops team technical skill yearly growth plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Organizes the recruiting database daily.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to follow the Mission of the University.
  • Must exhibit sound judgment in advising and counseling student-athletes.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Must be able to identify and participate in the resolution of departmental/institutional problems with continuous quality improvement as a goal.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Required Education
Bachelors Degree.

Required Work Experience
Three (3) or more years of experience coaching soccer at the NCAA collegiate level.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with video editing software such as Hudl/Instate/I-movie.
  • US Soccer/United Soccer Coaches License.
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience recruiting academically skilled students and talented athletes.
  • Experience with databases such as ARMS/ACS/Frostrush.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable with UIW’s insurance carrier.

Work Hours
Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm office hours with flexibility; must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays for team practices and events.

Typical of a coach in this sport.
