Summary

The Mount Vernon School is seeking a Middle School Nurse. This position treats students for medical issues, helps prevent physical issues and disease, administers daily student prescriptions, and coordinates routine health assessments during school hours (7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.). The Middle School Nurse is responsible for fulfilling all responsibilities in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the School and plays a key role in the collaborative care of our students.

Requirements:

• Maintains clinical records.
• Order and maintain clinic supplies.
• Manage student food allergies and sensitivies,
• Manage emergency preparedness training for faculty & staff.
• Collaborate and communicate with parents, faculty, and staff as needed regarding specific students or issues.
• Assists teachers in instructing students in health and nutrition education.
• Assists in promoting programs on health-education and immunization.
• Refer athletic injuries to Athletic Trainer as needed for follow-up care.
• Responsible for professional, medical treatment of students and staff.
• Responsible for early detection of physical problems and health evaluations and disease prevention

Required Skills/Abilities

• Technical proficiency in utilizing online medical platforms, Google apps such as email, calendar, docs, and spreadsheets.
• Experience with Magnus software preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with community stakeholders of all ages.

Education and Experience

• Certified American Heart Association CPR, AED and First Aid instructor (or willing to obtain).
• Experience in school nursing or a related field such as pediatrics; early childhood experience preferred.
• Registered nurse with current Georgia nursing license required.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
