Job Summary:
This job classification includes a variety of metal fabrication operations including Tube Form Drill, Tube Bend, and Torch Braze.
Sets up, operates, and manipulates a variety of computerized and manually controlled machines. Operates machine(s) in a prescribed safe manner – bending and roll forming tube, drilling holes, tapping threads, finishing and cleaning product, tube cutting/trimming, end forming, grinding/polishing, cleaning, and torch brazing. Performing these operations requires working with additional equipment such as overhead cranes, fixtures, metrology gages and hand tools. This position requires reading, planning, verifying fixture calibration and performing regular operator maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Bends, rolls, contours, sizes, drills, taps, cuts, trims, deburrs and cleans tubes
- Complies with all MTPP safety and quality procedures
- Adheres to manufacturing schedules
- Participates in training across tube bending and machining production areas
- Maintains tools and equipment, keeps work area clean and free from debris
- Sets up and operates various equipment including but not limited to; multiple tube benders, roll bender, chop saws, wash equipment, and various drilling / tapping machinery
- Ensures that quality standards are met
- Sets up various fixtures to match part configuration and inspects parts to applicable requirements
- Form, cold work, polish, and inspect assembly end points, surfaces, and brazed joints to meet requirements
- Sets up machines according to work instructions to trim, size, form, inspect, and torch braze material to meet fabrication drawing requirements. Trim, size, align, clean, flux, and torch braze assemblies using fixtures, jigs, shop aids, etc.
Schedule:
- 2nd (Night) Shift - Monday-Thursday 4:30pm-3am - Includes 10% shift pay differential for working 2nd Shift
- OR -
- 3rd (Weekend) Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6:00am - 6:30pm - work 36 hours but get paid for 40 hours!
Initial training will occur on 1st shift - 6am-4:30pm, Monday -Thursday

- May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).

Desired Characteristics:
- Background knowledge of concepts and operational experience in tube bending or manual machining, part cleaning, and metrology
- Ability to set up fixtures, manually controlled machining equipment, roll and tube bending machinery
- Ability to read and interpret hand metrology equipment such as micrometers, vernier calipers, go-no-go thread and pin gages
