This position fabricates and works on structural metal products.
Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate a forklift upon company certification
  • Safely operate hoist
  • Grinds/sands metal work-pieces to remove imperfections
  • Verifies conformance of work-piece to specifications
  • Identify work-pieces, tag and load onto appropriate cart
  • Pay careful attention and use care when handling machinery and equipment
  • Hammers & chips metal work-pieces from metal sheets
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Confers with department lead or supervisor to resolve fabrication problems
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned
  • Assists in the operation of fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, laser, and saw
  • Safely operate lift table
Qualifications:
  • Ability to operate hoist.
  • Ability to operate hand tools & air powered tools
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to perform basic addition and subtraction; Demonstrates ability to measure in feet, inches, and thousandths using tape measures and precision tools.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as well as stand on feet for 10 hours a day in a fast-paced environment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.


Employee may be exposed to various chemicals such as metal working fluid, brake fluid, parts washer, cleaners, etc.


Noise level in the environment is loud and hearing protection is required.
