Job Description
Description:

Montana Precision Products Metal Fabricators are responsible for the fabrication and welding of aerospace tubular, sheet metal and casting engine components.

  • Tack welding, fabrication of shop aids and fixtures to assist fabrication and welding
  • Visual weld inspection using fillet weld gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges and final weld fixtures.
  • Daily compliance to customer drawings and specifications to maintain aerospace Quality Standards.
  • Maintains qualification for welding certifications.
  • Solvent cleaning, trimming, sizing and polishing to prepare weld joints for welding
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Cleans work area, tools, and equipment at end of shift.
  • Sets up machines according to work instructions to trim, size, form, inspect, and GTAW (TIG weld) material to meet fabrication drawing requirements.
  • Weld inspection for weld size, face and root reinforcement, cracks, inclusions and porosity.
  • Videoscope inspection for root side weld defects.
  • Follows all business policies and procedures.
  • Complies with internal quality system and regulatory requirements
  • Inspect, maintain and log preventative maintenance on equipment needed for welding and fabricating.
  • Lean Manufacturing, general housekeeping, work in a teaming environment, 5S.
  • Drawing review and compliance for final dimensions, weld note callouts, base material and filler material selection.
  • Set-up and layout jobs using blueprints, diagrams and fixtures, following welding procedures, including the use of rotary turntables for manual welding.

Schedule:

  • 2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday, 4:30pm-3:00am
  • Includes 10% shift differential when working 2nd Shift!
  • Training will be on 1st Shift: Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm
Requirements:
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • US Person Status.
  • Good attention to detail and eye/hand coordination skills.
  • Uses mathematical and reading skills.
  • Ability to lift 25 – 45 pounds.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, charts, tables and logs.
  • Near vision of Jaeger #2 at 12” and far vision of 20/30 or better in either eye, with or without corrective lenses.
  • High School Diploma or GED

Work Environment:

  • Safety training and equipment are provided by MPP in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy.
  • May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne articles, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).
  • Occasionally lifts 25 – 45lbs.
