Job Description
Unit: Medical Interpreting
Location: UCH - Memorial Health Central
Work Schedule: Per Request Needed - Flex
Minimum Experience: 2 years of medical interpretation. Preferred: Bilingual - Korean/English.
Summary:
Provides medical interpretation for patients, staff and guests who are non-English speaking, deaf, or hard of hearing, to help communication with healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:
  • Complies with all privacy and confidentiality policies when communicating patient information.
  • Acts as a conduit between patient and/or guest and healthcare professional for communication in the patient's preferred language.
  • Accurately interprets medical terminology, including but not limited to anatomy, prescriptions, and procedures.
  • May translate written documentation.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years of medical interpretation.
  • Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED. Completion of medical interpretation competency test.

The pay range for this position is: $20.87 - $27.13 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
