This role is responsible for building relationships and executing on strategic initiatives with the following stakeholders:
1. Surgeon Consultants
a. Onboarding, regular communication, and planning
2. Residents and Fellows
a. Design, facilitation and the implementation of Resident / Fellow training, and other Medical Education programming
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Surgeon Consultants
- Partners with the sales organization to receive interest and leads in a compliant manner
- Executes the ongoing communication plan with consultants and tracks activity in CRM
- Spearheads the consultant planning process for the calendar year and drives accountability to those plans
- Provides feedback to consultants where necessary
- Ensures surgeon consultants have all necessary support and materials for contracted engagement
- Qualifies consultant leads utilizing Zimmer Biomet’s strategic partnership model and corporate software. Owns the communication to the surgeon on the decision as well as closing the loop with the sales organization.
- Conducts consultant onboarding sessions to align expectations and provide role clarity, coordinating all necessary resources and logistics
- Drives the annual needs assessment process for HCPs, using multiple data sources to inform process and document appropriately
- Owns the relationship between HCPs and Zimmer Biomet across corporate functions and serves as the initial point-of-contact
- Trains sales organization on processes and compliance policies tied to surgeon engagement
- Develops and nurtures relationships inside and outside of Zimmer Biomet in order to facilitate understanding of and adherence to Zimmer Biomet’s policies and procedures relating to HCP relationships.
- Communicates regularly with HCPs to identify needs, areas of interest, and development opportunities
- Acts as a liaison between corporate and the surgeon in identifying needs and pairing with the appropriate solutions(s) and contacts
Residents/Fellows
- Broadly supports training programs onsite to ensure execution is in alignment with strategy, provide feedback to faculty, assess effectiveness of training, and handle any logistics
- Drives ongoing efforts and continual development within key academic institutions (i.e. journal clubs)
- Coordinates resources (internal team members, faculty, and materials) to support training programs
- Builds customized learning and development plans with geographical markets based upon unique needs
- Gathers information on key stakeholders and inputs that information into a CRM
- Drives regular communicate with key academic institutions to identify needs, provide customized solutions, relay pertinent information, etc.
- Tracks and monitors residents throughout their journey in the residency program and from residency to fellowship, logging this information into the CRM
- Builds and owns relationships with key academic institutions (i.e. Residency Program Directors, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Residents, Residents, Attendings, relevant Boards and Committees, etc.)
- Records all activity with academic institutions in CRM and updates regularly
- Promotes training and development opportunities for residents and fellows
- Stays up to date on key happenings within key academic institutions
- Builds surgeon database and updates CV, professional picture, etc. on annual basis
- Supports faculty in co-facilitating at training programs and supporting in labs
Expected Areas of Competence
- Strong project and program development and management skills.
- Knowledge of latest medical education techniques and methodologies.
- Strong ability to build relationships and influence.
- Excellent computer skills using Word, Power Point and Excel.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills.
- Ability to identify training needs and link to business objectives.
- Ability to direct and guide the instruction design of medical education programs.
- Proactive problem solver capable of critical situation analysis.
- Strong public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Highly self-motivated and manages change appropriately.
- Working knowledge of finance and budgeting.
- Ability to design training materials for both instructional and electronic mediums.
- Working knowledge of the medical device field, preferably orthopedics.
Education/Experience Requirements
- B.S. degree, in business or instructional design preferred.
- 6+ years working directly with customers, technical experts and professional staffs, in medical devices or healthcare arenas preferred.
- MBA or work on an MBA is preferred.
- Orthopedic experience highly preferred.
Travel Requirements
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time and frequently on short notice, including weekends.
Additional Information
Location: this is a remote position with the preferred physical location on the west coast. Most travel will be conducted on the western half of the US.
