Lake Butler Hospital is a critical access hospital in North Florida providing 24-hour emergency services, inpatient hospitalization, swing bed program, rehabilitation services, outpatient laboratory, and outpatient radiology (X-ray, ultrasound, and CT Scan) services to Union County and the surrounding counties. We are seeking an knowledgeable and experienced Health information management (HIM) Medical Coder to join our team!

Job Summary:

This position requires the following:

• Interact with all sectors of the public and cooperate with management and other staff
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Answer in-house coding-related inquiries
• Maintain coding statistics for hospital and clinics
• Customer service focus
• Ability to maintain privacy of PHI
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Be flexible
• Subject-expert in all matters related to procedural and/or diagnostic coding
• Ability to be accurate with attention to detail
• Coordinate and prioritize job activities
• Process closed records for diagnostic and procedural coding
• Filing

The successful candidate will meet these requirements:

• Thorough knowledge of ICD-9/CPT-4 and ICD-10 CM/PCS coding sets.
• Working knowledge of Health Information Management (HIM) required.
• At least 4-years of progressive in-patient and out-patient medical coding work.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong computer skills overall.
• Current certification in ICD-9/CPT-4 coding and ICD-10CM/PCS.
