Medical Assistant - Local Travel

Roswell Park Care Network is looking to hire a full-time, Multi-Specialty Medical Assistants to assist at several different locations as needed. This position will be based out of our Orchard Park, NY office. There may be some local travel to Williamsville, Depew, Niagara Falls or Jamestown. Our different locations cater to different specialties such as: Urology, Dermatology, Gynecology, Thoracic, Oncology, Hematology.

Brief Description of Duties:

The primary responsibility of the medical assistant is to prepare charts for upcoming patient appointments, obtain vitals, patient intake as directed, and to assist the providers during office hours so that patients are treated in a prompt, efficient and courteous manner

• Escorts patients to exam room, obtain vitals, updates patient history, reconciles medications, allergies, and any required quality data; Interviews patients to obtain patient medical history, determines reasons patient is seeking care, and updates prescriptions
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments and disposes of contaminated supplies; disposes of biomedical waste in accordance with OSHA standards; Empties hazardous waste receptacles when full
• Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations; keeping the rooms neat and clean and prepares medical instruments or equipment for use
• Logs accurate data for specimen testing
• Other duties as required
• Keep supplies stocked and order as needed
• Records and updates information accurately in patient charts; completes chart prep 24-48 hours prior to patient appointment to ensure chart is complete with notes, pathology report, test results, medications, allergies, etc.
• Ensures patient and practice confidentiality adhering to HIPAA standards
• Explains treatment procedures, medications, or physicians' instructions to patients
• Maintains a working knowledge of medical terminology
• Answers telephone takes messages and forwards messages to the appropriate personnel
