Medical Assistant Jobs

Actalent is currently seeking skilled Medical Assistants to join one of our great clinic teams in Portland!

Description: FLOAT MA Role - ability to float between 3 different WHA clinic locations is a requirement.

• Work in close partnership with clinician(s) as an integral and valued member of the care team.
• Preload paper or outside records (pre-charting/pre-chart).
• Obtains patients history and takes vital signs: temperature, pulse, blood pressure and weight/height.
• Maintains a clean working environment.
• Audits coding after patient encounter completed to verify services rendered are documented in EMR correctly.
• Works collaboratively with other members of the health care team.
• Rooms 20-24 patients a day on average.
• Answers and responds to patients phone calls and patient follow-ups.
• Will likely support multiple providers in multiple clinic locations.
• Schedules laboratory tests, x-rays, special tests and procedures as instructed by the clinician.
• Manual blood pressure.
• May perform blood draws - phlebotomy.
• Correctly label all specimens.
• Tee-up day by entering information from patient-completed forms into electronic medical record (pre-charting/pre-chart).
• Enters and updates patients medical history into EMR (Epic).
• Updates and maintains clinicians daily office schedule.
• Reviews and maintains various logs and records.
• Prepare patient information for clinician review prior to appointment (pre-charting/pre-chart).
• Assists clinician in completing work release (FMLA) paperwork.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CPR certified (or ability to be certified within first 90 days of hire)
• Personality & culture fit are going to be BIG - they need MAs who have a willingness/hunger to learn, are easy to communicate with, reliable, excellent patient service/mindset and have the ability to multi-task
• Will also accept an LPN cert in lieu of a MA cert
• Graduated from an MA accredited program
• Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, NCCT, RMA, AMT, etc.) (for float, they HAVE to be certified)
• Strong communication skills both written and orally
• Works well with teams/team player
• Experience with EMRs/EHRs - Epic experience is preferred
• 2+ years of Medical Assisting experience
