Our client, a respected engineering firm in the Greater St. Louis area, is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to their growing team. The ideal candidate should have a background in mechanical engineering within a heavy industrial environment. Prior knowledge of project management, working with vendors, and client interaction desired. This position is located in the Greater St. Louis area.
Pay and Benefits: $90K-$110K, Health/Dental/Vision/401k
Responsibilities of a Mechanical Engineer:
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to engineers and designers.
- Define, interpret, and track assigned budgets, schedules, and scopes.
- Check all mechanical calculations and documents prepared by yourself or others for errors, omissions, and faulty of company standards.
- Oversee, manage, and act as project lead on multi-discipline projects, mainly with a mechanical scope.
- Create and modify 3D models for any design work.
- Participate in interdepartmental meetings to facilitate successful completion of projects and meeting of customer expectations.
- Assist with preparing construction documents and design deliverables.
- Participate in Autodesk User Group meetings within the organization.
- Apply concerns regarding safety, maintenance, accessibility, constructability, and coordination.
- Conduct site visits as needed, including performing laser scanning, and discussing project concepts with customer.
- Communicate and coordinate within the department and with needed personnel regarding design work, including external stakeholders (clients/vendors).
- Assist with mechanical drafting and design standards, new production methods.
Success Factors of a Mechanical Engineer:
- Detail-oriented, note taking, project scope skills.
- Basic knowledge of equipment practices, structural design, vendor proposals, etc.
- Must be able to use Excel, Belt Analyst, Pipeflo, and other calculation software.
- Licensed Professional Engineer strongly desired.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proficiency with software related to design including, Revit and AutoCAD.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with team members, internal/external stakeholders, etc.
- 7-10 years of mechanical engineering experience within a heavy industrial environment preferred.
