Mechanical Engineer Jobs

Position Summary: The Mechanical Engineer is the primary engineering resource for one or more concurrent JLS system jobs. Duties include interdepartmental leadership of other project team members and technical review of all engineering disciplines. This position is responsible for the technical outcome of a project and requires competent leadership. Engineering tasks often include the configuration of robots and vision systems, CAD design, and specification of vendor-supplied equipment. Documentation of work done on each job is the responsibility of the engineer on each job.

Position Responsibilities:

· Overall responsibility for the technical project execution;

· Writes the scope of work and the design workbook for the project;

· Conceptually designs automation and motion control and robotic solutions to meet the expectation of the customer order;

· Performs internal design reviews with all project disciplines including the filing of process milestone documentation;

· Delegates, mentors, and directs Commissioning Engineers and Associate System Engineers;

· Works with the project manager to ensure an overall great customer experience;

· Gives technical guidance to design, controls, and software engineering;

· Configures and assists in the setup of the robotic program and vision systems;

· Provides equipment startup supervision or assistance at JLS and customer site;

· Coordinates and leads technical meetings between JLS and customer or vendor;

· Collaborates with a customer on an approach to a problem;

· Supports meeting project deadlines and project budget estimates;

· Advises customers as a technical expert before and after the sale;

· Supports the creation of drawings, documentation packages, and user manuals;

· Works with purchasing department to acquire material necessary to complete projects;

· Responsible to approve purchase requisitions as applicable;

· Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

· Proficient in MS Office and advanced computer skills

· Knowledge of Solidworks and AutoCAD required; ERP software - JobScope preferred

· Demonstrated outstanding written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate with different audiences

· Excellent organizational and leadership skills

· Exceptional proven problem-solving skills required

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion.

· Proven experience to work independently

Qualifications

· 4-year college degree majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience;

· 4+ years of technical/professional training in similar roles;

· Solid understanding of safety and sanitary standards required

· Ability to specify auxiliary equipment required

· Ability to travel up to 25% to support business activities, involving a week or less at a time

· Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

Work Environment:

Office environment: Regular use of desk, computer, keyboard, mouse, phone, and printers.

Manufacturing environment: Walking, standing, crouching, crawling. May be subject to cold, wet, or hot manufacturing environments for periods of 8 hours or more.

Physical: Lift, push, pull-up to 25 pounds; fine manual dexterity; ability to sit for short periods of time; frequent walking or standing.

Work week hours: 8:00 – 5:00, Monday through Friday, additional hours as needed.
