We are looking for a talented Material Operations Manager to join our team.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Create common supply chain processes and procedures by establishing collaborative business partner relationships.
  • Mitigate long term supplier constraints by collaborating with functional stakeholders.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects that align with Cummins Operating System and Functional Excellence direction and leverage common processes tools, and information systems.
  • Prepare and manage an annual operating plan including expense resources, and capital.
  • Develop, understand and improve necessary Key Performance Indicators.
  • Support Corporate Supply Chain initiatives and lead the cross Business Unit planning processes to ensure intra-company alignment.
  • Manage, coach, and develop staff; work with employees to set goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.
  • Lead efforts within one or more Supply Chain functions including materials, production, inventory, logistics, demand management and order fulfillment. Ensures internal and external customers' expectations and requirements are met from end to end in each of the supply chains.
  • Analyze operational trends and develop corrective action plans.
  • Approach daily problem solving and continuous improvement opportunities strategically and tactically to achieve performance targets.
  • Address supply chain failures promptly to ensure operations stability; escalate as appropriate.
  • Manage daily operations across functions to ensure a dependable and efficient supply chain.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Inventory Management and Optimization - Uses analytics and algorithms to determine the optimal level of inventory investment across the end-to-end supply chain within specific constraints (warehouse space, customer delivery, etc.); provides guidance and expertise on planning parameter refinement; develops inventory strategies to support Cummins' strategy and not just a business unit strategy.
  • Materials KPI Management - Operates in relation to recent or historical outputs as compared to expectations of the organization to determine next steps to drive improvement; assesses gaps to the supply chain performance against the expectation of achieving target deliverables; interprets KPIs to understand end-customer impact; strategically balances trade-offs to influence one KPI while minimizing the impact to others.
  • Ensures accountability - Holding self and others accountable to meet commitments.
  • Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Optimizes work processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Supply Chain Knowledge - Influences, with the ability to concisely explain and/or elaborate on, the multi-disciplined and end-to-end integration of the flow of information, products, and services to achieve the desired result for the end customer within the first-fit or aftermarket business segments while balancing the tensions of inventory, cost, and delivery.
  • Drives engagement - Creating a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives.
  • Materials Planning Parameters - Aligns parameters (minimum order quantity, multiple order quantity, lead time, part cost, etc.) to balance the supply and demand plans while stabilizing the supply chain; runs changes to parameter settings in the planning environment and analyzes the impact to customer delivery and inventory.
  • Drives results - Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • B.S or BA in applicable field, MBA preferred
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Significant level of relevant work experience required.

  • Responsible for ordering and line-side delivery of all turbo packaging
  • Effectively manage overtime to business expectation working closely with Plant Finance and Leadership teams.
  • Lead a team of four exempt process managers and 100 hourly Material/Shipping associates.
  • Responsible for all outbound turbo shipments to CLC2
  • Work Cross functionally to support plant major KPI improvements including working closely with Plant 3PL to drive improvements in Material Delivery processes.
  • Coordinate daily operational processes to ensure Material is available at point of use in proper line-side approved presentation.
  • Lead a team of material handlers that feed 6 main production lines and other single cells for a plant producing over 16,000 turbos per week.
  • Responsible for all Material Operations activities including but not limited to safety, quality, delivery, and cost at the CTP Assembly site.
  • Manage suite of metrics in Material Operations to help identify and work on continuous improvement related actions, as part of daily operations processes.
  • Monitor and audit key transactional points within the material flow processes and work in partnership with Inventory Control to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Drive standard work, while ensuring work instructions and training matrices are being utilized/maintained in DMS and internal controls are in place for all steps.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
