DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

The Media, Insights & Technology (MIT) department is the strategic and tactical heart of The Basement’s integrated agency model.

MIT team members collaborate with representatives from the Creative and Client Services teams in the development of integrated campaign strategies. MIT team members carry responsibility for strategic development, data & research analysis, campaign planning, management, and performance analysis. Team members also manage relationships with data, advertising (media), martech, and adtech providers and execute client campaigns that leverage these solutions.

Media, Insights & Technology team members are inquisitive, innovative, and forward-looking.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Marketing Analyst reports to the Media Director and is a key contributor to performance data visualization, report preparation, data analysis and the investigation and delivery of insights encompassing media, web analytics and other various data sets for agency clients. Additionally, the Marketing Analyst will assist with in-platform strategic media buying, where needed.

Analytics

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to support complex requests as they are presented by the business and its clients
  • Document success in order to make wins repeatable and improve efficiency and performance
  • Support the design, development and maintenance of client-facing reports and dashboards to visualize and clearly represent key trends and patterns
  • Adopt a supporting role in the development of campaign measurement strategies and KPIs for clients across a wide range of industries
  • Extract, clean and compile data from multiple sources, while maintaining strict standards for data quality and accuracy
  • Collaborate with cross-agency teams to develop data-driven insights and recommendations which can be used for performance optimizations and identification of opportunities to deliver additional value to our clients
  • Support media and account teams in developing internal and client deliverables

Programmatic Media Buying

  • Support the flawless set up and launch of programmatic campaign buys, analyze performance and maintain ongoing optimizations
  • Work with campaign stakeholders to execute a buying strategy for each campaign, including ad formats, user targeting, SSPs, bid strategy, etc.

General

  • Take advantage of and seek out learning opportunities to gain insight and experience in an ever-changing, digital environment
  • Possess a strong attention to detail, initiative, stellar organizational skills and the need to over communicate
  • Be a high-quality representative of The Basement and the Media, Insights and Technology department in interactions with partners, clients and fellow staff
  • Learn and follow all applicable company processes and policies
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with his/her supervisor regarding all facets of job responsibility
  • Regularly manage time and workload in accordance with company expectations and within defined scope
  • Identify and nurture expertise in a desired area of interest in the analytics and/or adtech space (ex: reporting platforms, media platforms, etc.)
  • Contribute positively to the company’s collaborative working culture
  • Work with the integrated media team to develop and test new tactics to better target users and improve overall ROI

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Should be comfortable working in an ever-changing environment and effective at autonomously managing time to complete tasks as assigned.

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • General understanding of analytics in marketing
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, filters and pivot tables
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Maintain a “test, learn, optimize” mindset
  • Strong time management skills
  • Possess a desire to uncover “truths” through data
  • 0-3 years of experience working in analytics, marketing, advertising or related role
  • Must be a team player
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (ex: data science, mathematics, business, marketing, advertising and/or technology)
  • Interest in building a career in marketing / advertising
  • Strong attention to detail

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with visualization tools (ex: Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Experience with Google Analytics & GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, Facebook Business Manager, Dataroma, Adobe Analytics, RegEx, Demand Side Platforms (DSP) and/or other various marketing platforms
  • Certification or expertise in analytics platforms (ex: Google Analytics)
