What You'll Do

  • Determine causes for deviation and recommend corrections
  • Train and develop Mill Operators as needed, to include periodic shift work and to meet training and business objectives
  • Maintain safe and reliable Rolling Mill systems while improving production rates, uptime efficiencies, yields, cost, and changeovers
  • Work with Mill department and shift managers to optimize personnel and process execution for consistent performance and continuous process improvement
  • Collect data to support continuous improvement analysis and process implementations
  • Provide reporting daily, weekly and monthly to document Mill performance against established key performance indicators
  • Investigate and recommend process, procedure, training or equipment needs to continually improve performance
  • Identify and correct safety hazards, and practices and procedures
  • Evaluate and improve safety, training, quality practices, and operational processes in hot rolling of long bar products
  • Develop innovative solutions and best practices. Conduct equipment and process studies to support continuous improvement

What You'll Need

  • Demonstrates dependability in work completion and flexibility in schedule to meet business needs.
  • Experienced in long bar rolling methods, and familiar with pass design theory, ISO quality practices, and continuous, improved methods
  • Willingness and ability to work hands-on in the shop with operators on flexible schedules
  • Ability to work in all types of weather and environment (Office, Mill, Recycling yard – air-conditioned and non-air- conditioned environments)
  • Communication skills with emotional maturity, a thorough understanding of the business process in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 1 year field experience in either heavy industrial operations and/or manufacturing environment preferred

Your Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor or Associate Degree preferred
