Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer I - Body Shop
Duration:08 Months (Possibilities of extension)

I.Position Purpose/Scope: What are the key objectives of the position?
Plans, sources and coordinates body shop processes, tools, fixtures, and equipment for designated area of responsibility within process chain for Body in White. Leads special projects as assigned including equipment/structure modifications within areas of responsibility.
II.Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities: List the major duties/accountabilities to achieve the positions key objectives.
- Creates and maintains body shop process sheets.
- Applies statistical methods to estimate future body shop requirements and potential.
- Leads any special projects and/or self-initiated projects for continuous improvement, structural planning and/or other series and new model related planning projects.
- Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding assembly capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Assists with analysis on process and quality issues not solvable by production areas.
- Evaluates product according to specifications and quality standards.
- Develops, evaluates, and improves assembly processes and process methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication process, tooling and production equipment capabilities, body shop methods and quality control standards.
- Analyzes and plans space requirements & workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Steers the internal and external resources during the installation, start-up and launch phase.
- Confers with finance, procurement, design staff and vendors concerning product design, process tools, fixtures, and equipment to ensure efficient production methods and to arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Provides specialized technical guidance, training, process improvement activities and support to assigned process area and production associates.
- Plans and/or leads engineering changes and deviations for body shop.
A)Education:
- MA/MS Degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering) preferred.
- BA/BS degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering), OR the equivalent of 4 years of related engineering experience.
B)Experience:
- 1+ years of experience in an engineering environment or participation in 6 months of an engineering internship/co-op (automotive process or automotive manufacturing engineering preferred).
