Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to develop and deploy manufacturing equipment within our cutting-edge Battery Factories. Battery development is at the heart of our company and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles – battery architecture innovation, battery reliability, and battery cost. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.
In addition to developing manufacturing equipment and processes, the Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Battery Design Engineering, Quality, and Production to take Battery designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production. This position will be responsible for managing the concept, build, and deployment of innovative automated equipment.
What You’ll Do

• Transitioned products from low-volume prototypes to large-scale production
• Develop equipment validation plans
• Function as lead manufacturing engineer or project manager on new automated manufacturing equipment
• Coordinate factory readiness and equipment installation
• Lead and manage project scope from concept through production launch
• Establish equipment requirements and develop design concepts
• Oversee detailed design of new manufacturing equipment
• Develop specifications and manage RFQ process for new manufacturing equipment
• Develop new manufacturing equipment for a high-volume production environment

What You’ll Bring

• Multiple new product launches
• BS/MS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, similar degree or equivalent experience
• Ability and willingness to travel abroad (up to 50%)
• Understanding of manufacturing equipment safety systems
• 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
• Understanding of tolerancing and GD&T
• Multiple new equipment installations
• Mechanical design and layout development experience in CAD
• Large manufacturing lines implementation
• Familiar with industrial engineering concepts such as line balancing and timing charts

Expected Compensation
$80,000 - $258,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
