Job Description
Fate Therapeutics is currently seeking a motivated individual to support material management at Fate’s manufacturing facility. The successful candidate is an excellent communicator, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills and has in-depth knowledge of supply chain and material management processes. This position is responsible for ensuring all departments have adequate materials to meet their needs. This is a This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director, Materials Management & Logistics at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, California.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Planning/Buying team to identify supply shortages and higher usage rates than expected
  • Work with the inventory system to ensure adequate materials are available and released in time to support GMP production
  • Monitor temperature conditions of refrigerators, freezers, and controlled room temperature storage of cGMP materials; respond to alarms, as necessary
  • Collaborate with laboratory and manufacturing personnel to ensure effective management of raw materials supply to support in-house and external manufacturing operations
  • Perform inventory cycle count and physical count
  • Develop or modify SOPs, Work Instructions, and forms for materials management processes
  • Manage day to day activities of the warehouse
  • Ensure the Team performs accurate and timely inventory transactions in logbooks, inventory systems, and Purchasing systems
  • Prepare and file detailed records on procurement activity, quantity, and vendors
  • Lead, manage and develop materials management staff
  • Develop or modify training materials for materials management processes
  • Drive continuous improvement of supplies, movement, and processes to reduce waste and improve service levels
  • Implement and maintain strict GMP procedures and lead any efforts required to address and close any material deviations, non-conformance or any other quality event
  • Perform materials management operations, including receiving, storage, shipment, inventory management, and order processing of all materials for Fate internal and external manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Ability to think on one’s feet and change direction easily to accommodate the situation at hand
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and team-oriented skills to work well with and influence across the organization
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing staff
  • Experience with Inventory Management Systems/ERP
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years related experience in a regulated materials management environment in biotech or life sciences
  • Warehouse experience related to picking, packaging, distribution of cryogenic and ambient materials
  • Experience managing GMP warehouse and inventory within the Pharma/Biotech/Consumer Goods industries
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Able to adjust to workload on an always changing fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Working Conditions

  • Will require to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Will require work in controlled and cGMP Manufacturing environments
  • Will require working with hazardous materials
  • Evening and weekend work may be required
$100,000 - $125,000 a year
