Job Description
Hawker Pacific Aerospace, Sun Valley, CA is seeking a Manager Lean Manufacturing Project Management to support its Corporate Administration department. Selected applicant will be responsible for designing and managing sustainable Lean Manufacturing goals and strategies for improving operations and processes within the organization. Responsible for all continuous improvement and performance enhancement activities that result in measurable cost savings or cost avoidance. Applies Lean Methodologies and tools in order to accomplish improvement objectives and key performance indicator (KPI) targets. Responsible for analyzing, planning, implementing, training, and facilitating Lean Manufacturing efforts and initiatives company-wide. Coordinates with counterparts from the Landing Gear Network for project collaboration and implementation within the Product Division.


This position may be assigned to one or more departments depending upon the company needs at the time.


Essential Duties


This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned task. May be assigned some or all duties indicated below depending on job progression level.


Project Management


  • Helps promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
  • Reviews the detailed work plan with required stakeholders. Ensures resource availability and allocation, monitors project progress, manages risk and ensures compliance is followed in all business actions carried out.
  • Manages complex and interdisciplinary business projects; responsible of project plan, content, schedule, progress, and budget.
  • Performs other duties as required by business needs.
  • Responsibility to work with LEAN Manufacturing principles.
  • Coordinates internal resources and third party vendors required to complete projects.
  • Collaborates with counterparts from the Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Network on Lean Project Management synergies. Local point of contact for Product Division projects that are relevant for the Landing Gear Network success.
  • Arranges, moderates, and documents workshops and meetings, ensuring communication with internal and external parties keeps the projects on schedule and budget.
  • Adheres to all the rules, regulations, and safety guidelines.
  • Updates the company Officers and Senior Management on project progress.


Training


  • Establishes and contracts external training providers.
  • Coordinates Lean Training Program and curriculum. Arranges in-house training.
  • Analyzes reports to identify training needs and trends.
  • Educates and trains company personnel in the various lean manufacturing concepts, tools and methods. Delivers presentations and training courses including measurement, analysis, improvement and control courses.
  • Performs continuous improvement of training program through key performance metrics.
  • Assesses training effectiveness and identifies areas for improvement.


Lean


  • Contributes to the Lean Principles training; coordinates new hire and recurrent Lean training.
  • Coordinates and synchronizes site level Lean goals and initiatives with those of the strategic business unit to meet overall business objectives.
  • Provides advice and audits line management to ensure that effective Lean Management is implemented and working.
  • Identifies possible losses; evaluates the risk in such loss exposure; develops and implements a plan to correct or prevent a loss.
  • Provides guidance and direction in Lean programs to ensure a common and effective approach.
  • Implements sustainable process improvements in close coordination with management and in accordance with existing rules and regulations.
  • Maintains working relationships with Lean Departments through other Lufthansa Technik subsidiaries.
  • Evaluates and models existing processes. Provides consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance and product quality. Develops metrics that provide data for process management and indicators for future improvement opportunities.
  • Assists in establishing and refining performance scorecards, including performance measures, drivers and influences. Establishes performance standards and improvement targets for key performance indicators (KPI).


Supervisory Responsibilities


  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Directly supervises 3+ employees in the department. Indirectly supervises employees in various departments.


Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master degree preferred.


Certification/Licensure: Certification from a recognized provider of Lean Transformation training preferred.


Experience: Five (5) years’ work experience. Experience with Lean Project Management desired. Three (3) years supervisory experience desired.


Preferred: Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Landing Gear Experience


Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Superior presentation and negotiation skills. Strong adaptability and capacity to work in fast-paced environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Attention to detail and ability to multitask tasks from multiple administrators. SAP Knowledge.
