Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • 9 years of experience working in an emergency operations center with crisis and incident response, and maintaining calm and efficiency in high-pressure situations.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to travel five days per week to work onsite.
  • Experience in development and execution of central security operations, including building new processes and procedures in a constantly changing, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent people and team management skills, with the ability to harmonize numerous complex groups spread globally.
  • Experience managing small-to-medium sized teams and/or large outsourced/vendor teams.
  • Ability to balance strategic, technical, and operational groups with competing priorities and using a data-driven mindset to guide decision-making.

As Waymo Security Operations Center (WaySOC) Manager, you will drive the strategy, development, and deployment of a comprehensive security operations center for Waymo, including planning and leading physical security optimization projects in an extremely changing environment with a high degree of ambiguity. At every turn, process excellence, collaboration, and detailed cross-organization communications are critical. You will implement strategic improvements and efficiencies while assuring alignment and compliance with security policies and requirements.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $143,000-$219,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Analyze, develop, and strengthen processes and procedures and integration across the greater physical security and Operations teams.
  • Consider the strategic direction of a security operations center as an organizational value driver, drive efficiencies of scale across key partners with shared goals.
  • Influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Operations Center solutions are thoughtful and innovative. Orchestrate escalations of Operations Center support requests and field requests from stakeholders.
  • Utilize the resources and knowledge necessary to manage incidents and escalations. Support the development of a team of diverse employees and contractors including 24/7 shift staff and technical projects in respective areas of expertise.
  • Build a comprehensive Waymo Security Operations Center program that aligns with the organization’s strategic goals.
