Role Summary:
The Manager of Body Shop Operations role is critical to the success of our production operation. This role is responsible to the leadership and development of our group leaders while ensuring KPIs are met. There is a highly strategic aspect to this role as we continue to ramp our production to solve the problems of today and looking to the future as well. This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Body Shop Operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously to support successful vehicle launches, managing plan, tasks, risks, resolution, communications and implementation.
  • Partner across the Service and Engineering teams to ensure smooth implementation of service part creation and standardized work for global markets
  • Ensures shop floor organization, production, safety, and department 5’s.
  • Monitor and support team and department performance results.
  • Developing departmental plans and priorities.
  • Lead a team that designs industry leading body repair methods, technical bulletins, tooling specifications, design service parts, engineering analysis requests,
  • Proactively and regularly develops and manages team member’s performance and capabilities, based upon company KPI’s.
  • Ensuring the assembly of quality products at or below budgeted production costs to meet marketplace demand.
  • Meeting daily quality goals set by KPI’s.
  • Have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and/or pursue advancement in our global organization.
  • Leveraging Lean Six Sigma and analytical skills to identify gaps and implement process improvements.
  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish plant/company goals and objectives.
  • Make a critical impact as you work with plant operations and manufacturing leaders and team members, drive continuous improvements and meet and exceed quality, cost and other goals.
  • Supporting and developing peers and Group Leaders.
  • Manage team and material resources to meet production targets and KPI’s.
  • Leverage your strong training and mentorship skills to manage and develop teams while also driving process improvements and serving as a change manager where needed.
  • Coordinates resources, provides clear direction and timelines for deliverables, and delegates tasks across team.
  • Have the autonomy to make key contributions combined with the support of other managers.
Qualifications:
  • Experience with lean manufacturing
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds.
  • Highly organized, with good time management skills and acute attention to detail.
  • Must have good understanding of manufacturing procedures and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to coach and mentor
  • Process and detail oriented
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related field of study
  • Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • 5+ Years of experience in Body Shop Operation, repair, body service part design
  • 7+ years working experience in Manufacturing environment preferred
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Six Sigma experience preferred
  • 5+ Years of leading direct and indirect teams, and marshalling resources in a lean complex global environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently, managing large, complex projects or teams across a distributed organization.
  • Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to deliver results through influence without authority.
  • Understanding of labor budgets, KPI's, and efficiency reporting
  • 3-5+ years Manufacturing Supervisory Experience (preferably automotive).
  • Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and navigate through an ambiguous environment; enjoy challenges.
