We are seeking a proactive Manager, Basketball Innovation & Technology to join our Basketball Operations team. This position will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and execution of the Phoenix Suns' Basketball Operations technology initiatives across multiple intraoperation teams. The successful candidate will work closely with the Vice President, Basketball Strategy/Assistant General Manager to ensure that the team stays at the forefront of sports technology advancements and leverages emerging innovations to maintain a competitive advantage.
What Will You Do
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key technology vendors, partners, and industry experts to stay current on trends, best practices, and emerging innovations in sports technology
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of technology-related documentation, training materials, and best practices guidelines to support the successful adoption and utilization of new technologies by the Basketball Operations staff
  • Collaborate with the Vice President, Basketball Strategy/Assistant General Manager and other stakeholders to define the team's technology strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of technology initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending adjustments as needed to maximize their impact on the team's performance and efficiency
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Basketball Operations and IT, ensuring seamless integration of technology initiatives and addressing any technical issues or concerns
  • Manage the evaluation, selection, and implementation of technology solutions across various intra-operation teams, including analytics, scouting, player development, and medical/training staff
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of current and emerging technologies in the sports industry, identifying opportunities to incorporate these innovations into the team's strategy and operations
What We Need From Our Manager
  • Demonstrated expertise in current and emerging sports technologies, with a proven track record of identifying and implementing innovative solutions that enhance team performance and efficiency
  • Passion for basketball and a deep understanding of the sport's nuances, strategies, and trends
  • Understanding of various Basketball Operations functions, including analytics, scouting, player development, and medical/training
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to a diverse audience, including non-technical stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience, with a commitment to mentoring and developing talent
Experience/ Education Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in technology management, preferably within the sports industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
