This job contributes to REI’s success and resiliency by managing the new Asset Protection & Risk Management Support Center (AP & RM Support Center). The AP & RM Support Center is a centralized unit of Emergency Coordination Center Specialists and Asset Protection Support Specialists who serve as the first point of contact for stores, distribution centers, headquarters, adventures, and all departments of the co-op in both emergency and non-emergency asset protection and risk management efforts. The AP & RM Support Center Manager supports day-to-day operational functions and provides leadership, motivation, and direction to a team of specialists (working remotely), in addition to supporting the day-to-day workload of the teams.

This role will drive success through aligning staff with emergency protocols and key performance metrics to ensure consistent, reliable support and communication in emergent and other unusual occurrence situations. This role will also support the implementation and maintenance of the Business Continuity Program and support resilience-building of our critical business operations. This role directs daily AP & RM Support Center operations, overseeing response planning, driving standardization, training, and operational execution for emergent and non-emergent events across the co-op. In addition, this job requires continuous building, improvement, management and testing of emergency response plans.
  • Oversees training and development of employees and effective hiring
  • Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, passion for customer service and teamwork to achieve business results.
  • Work closely with several cross-divisional partners
  • Maintain situational awareness of natural and human-made events that may compromise the safety and security of personnel, business operations, and infrastructure for all REI locations
  • Supports the implementation and maintenance of emergency management programs, disaster recovery and business continuity programs, driving standardization and practices in support of REI key messages.
  • Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances, and issues, and takes appropriate action.
  • Support and manage the day-to-day operations of the AP & RM Support Center while strategically maximizing productivity of the team.
  • Provide quality control for intake to ensure all necessary incident tickets are opened according to impact and urgency, tracked throughout lifecycle, and communicated in a timely manner and/or escalated appropriately.
  • Develop, monitor, and operate within division annual payroll, capital, and expense budgets.
  • Provide real time guidance to emergency support and asset protection specialists
  • Effectively drive Continuous Improvement projects to increase department productivity and cost controls.
Bring your passion and expertise
  • Preferred 2+ years' experience in Help Desk or Service Desk environment or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with emergency response/coordination principles and resources
  • Ability to understand and communicate variances to operations, which include but are not limited to emergency response protocols, disaster recovery and business continuity plans, security needs assessment, retail, and DC operations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and support emergent situations as needed
  • Willingness to travel 6-8 times each year
  • Working knowledge and understanding of common coordination center tools and channels including but not limited to communication platforms, emergency management systems, phone, chat, email, social media, SMS, and app messaging.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with emphasis on improving end user experience
  • 2+ years' experience in leadership or supervision of successful teams
  • Preferred 5+ years' experience developing analytics and production tracking
  • Builds capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervision efforts, and inspiring others.
  • 5+ years' experience in emergency planning and response
  • Makes effective organization and people decisions in a manner consistent with REI's values and ethics.

The pay for this role is: $72900 - $116800 per year .
