Job Description

Performs a variety of troubleshooting duties involving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. In addition, performs preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment, completes required documentation of all tasks performed.

The incumbent is required to perform the job functions with average supervision. Policies, guidelines, and procedures are developed by the Department Manager.

Job Functions:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs production and support equipment experiencing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems.
  • Displays good work habits that will set good examples for co-workers. Continually monitors and maintains work areas to keep them clean and well organized.
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5’s and other company standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Works in a safe manner and assures co-workers work in a safe manner. Reports safety hazards immediately to appropriate individual. Continues to expand safety awareness by participating in annual safety training programs.
  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance per issued checklists.
  • Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements.
  • Maintains adequate records of work performed on equipment and corrective action taken.
  • Performs equipment installation tasks per work order instructions.
  • Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
  • Performs electrical/mechanical component replacement, assuring compliance with work order instructions.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.

Required Experience

  • Maintenance craft/technician experience in a production facility for at least 2-5 years.
  • Specialized knowledge in volt meters, ammeters, ohmmeters, and oscilloscope preferred.
  • Technical training in industrial electricity/electronics and/or mechanical is preferred.
