Role Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our trucking company's maintenance team. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in truck maintenance, diagnostics, and repair. As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our truck fleet. Your expertise will contribute to minimizing downtime, maximizing vehicle performance, and maintaining compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

Perform Routine Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance tasks, including oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, and filter replacements, to keep our trucks in optimal operating condition.

Diagnose and Repair: Identify mechanical and electrical issues through thorough diagnostics and troubleshooting. Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other truck components.

Preventive Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance inspections to identify potential problems before they escalate, ensuring the long-term reliability of the fleet.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, procedures performed, and hours worked. Input data into digital maintenance management systems.

Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies, assessing the situation and performing on-the-spot repairs to minimize downtime.

Quality Control: Ensure that all maintenance and repairs are performed according to industry standards and manufacturer specifications, maintaining the safety and performance of the vehicles.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and company policies while performing maintenance tasks. Report any safety concerns or violations to management.

Parts Management: Collaborate with the parts department to source and order necessary replacement parts, ensuring an efficient and well-stocked inventory.

Training and Development: Stay up-to-date with advancements in truck technology, maintenance techniques, and industry best practices. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the maintenance team, drivers, and dispatch to ensure clear communication and seamless operations.

Qualifications:

•High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in automotive or diesel mechanics is preferred.

•Proven experience as a mechanic, specifically in truck maintenance.

•Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

•Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.

•Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

•Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.

•Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.

•Strong commitment to safety protocols and guidelines.

•Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

•Physical stamina and flexibility to handle the demands of the role.
