WHO IS FEDCAP REHABILITATION?

In 1935, three men who had sustained injuries in WWI met in Times Square and literally changed the world for people with physical disabilities. Fedcap Rehabilitation Services provides an array of services to youth and adults, helping thousands of individuals graduate from high school, obtain vocational certification or a college degree, become work-ready, and obtain meaningful employment as they achieve long-term economic well-being.

Our human services nonprofit's mission is to create opportunities for people facing barriers to economic well-being. To achieve this mission, we strive to attract and retain talented, creative, and dedicated staff who believe in our cause. This is why we provide competitive compensation, great benefits, and plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth for our mail handlers.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MAIL CLERK

As a Mail Clerk, you keep our human services nonprofit up and running! You are responsible for ensuring the sorting, delivery, and processing of the mail delivered by our couriers. When you sort mail, you label accountable mail from their respective mailers (USPS, UPS, FedEx). Using your exceptional attention to detail, you meter letter flats and parcels for outgoing shipments.

Additionally, you deliver mail to designated floors using the elevator or stairs. Some days it is vital to visit the Post Office as requested by a processor. There are times you are required to walk on client floors (up to 8 floors) in one day to deliver daily mail and packages more than once. You use your strength to lift packages of a maximum of 75 pounds. While transporting mail, you use your great communication skills to interact with others to see what else needs to be done. You love being a messenger, as it brings something new every day! You enjoy walking around and engaging with others. It brings you great satisfaction to know that your position as a mail handler helps our organization to succeed!

Qualifications For a Mail Clerk

Do you have great communication skills and a love for interacting with others? Can you handle carrying heavy packages up and down the stairs in our building? Are you great at time management while juggling multiple tasks? Can you stay calm in stressful situations? If yes, you might just be perfect for this mail handler position!
