Job Description

Position Summary:

The Mail Clerk will provide mailroom services to IRS personnel. Services include but are not limited to mail pick-up and delivery at specified mail stations within IRS facility and processing of incoming and outgoing mail

Essential Job Functions:

  • Deliver mail to designated mail floors using the elevator or stairs and to Post Office as requested.
  • Process mail/packages received from couriers.
  • Sort mail and label accountable mail (USPS, UPS, FedEx).
  • Metering of letters flats and parcels for outgoing shipments.
  • May require one individual to do 2 runs in one day.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor. This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities.
  • Must be able to walk on client floors (up to 8 floors) in one day to deliver daily mail and packages.

Required Education and Experience

  • Capable of operating or being trained to operate Mail Meters and UPS shipment stations.
  • Mailroom knowledge is preferred.
  • Knowledge and use of computer and mail equipment.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to handle a maximum package weight of 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to read and write English to aid in processing mail.
  • Knowledge of general office practices.
  • Must have basic knowledge of computer operation.
