This important role will report to the Loss Mitigation Manager and support our loss mitigation team in its on-going efforts to assist Virginia Housing borrowers retain home ownership and avoid foreclosure. The primary goal of this position is to verify that all required loss mitigation documents are received timely. The Loss Mitigation Intake Specialist reviews incoming loss mitigation applications to verify that they are fully completed, signed and dated to ensure that all required documentation is provided.

The primary goal of this position is to verify that all required loss mitigation documents are received timely. The Loss Mitigation Intake Specialist reviews incoming loss mitigation applications to verify that they are fully completed, signed and dated to ensure that all required documentation is provided.
Responsibilities will include:
- Document customer loan files with the most current status and communication activity.
- Handle incoming phone calls, answering borrower inquiries, and responding to borrower phone messages or written inquiries.
- Maintain compliance with Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB) processing, communication, notification standards and timelines.
- Provide written communication to borrowers of incomplete applications to include a list of documents required to complete the application.
- Assign completed applications/BAPs to Sr. Loss Mitigation Officers.
- Review incoming mail and loss mitigation mailbox to identify new borrower’s assistance packages, (BAPs) and trailing documents and acknowledging incoming mail/applications/BAPs.
- Couple years’ work experience in mortgage default servicing environment
- Strong organizational, time management, documentation and analytical skills
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent vocational/technical training
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Familiarity with FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Rural Development and VA loss mitigation servicing guidelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage pipeline and adjust to pipeline fluctuations
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Working knowledge of Black Knight/MSP Servicing Platform
