We can’t do it without YOU!
Do you want to apply your experience, skills and education in a way that makes a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of our patients and their families? At Tennessee Cancer Specialists, it is the privilege of our employees to walk with our patients and their families as they move along the journey of fighting cancer. Whether you are working directly with patients in one of our clinics or in a support role, you are an important part of our mission to deliver the highest quality, compassionate care. Our 200+ employees make up the teams at our 15 different East Tennessee locations and have helped us achieve the Top Workplaces award two years running for the greater Knoxville area!
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will assist our registered infusion nurses and/or providers with administering patient care so they can focus more closely on the infusion portion of their position.
Here's what might happen on a typical day…
The role of a Licensed Practical Nurse at Tennessee Cancer Specialists allows you to assist in multiple areas of the clinic. As an LPN, you may either work closely with our RNs in the infusion area or with our providers to help maintain an efficient patient flow through the clinic.
Your unique skillset makes you an invaluable TCS team member, and your attention to detail allows you to safely care for patients while keeping up with the fast pace of a full patient schedule.
Experiences that matter…
- Communicating respectfully and in a timely manner will keep all necessary team members on the same page to maintain the quality care of your patients.
- In conversation with our patients, you will provide excellent customer service by rolling out the red carpet to meet their needs and make them feel as comfortable as possible during a challenging time in their lives.
- Your go-getter work ethic will have you ready to jump in and help out with any additional tasks.
- Experience with navigating Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and familiarity with HIPAA as well as OSHA and other safety guidelines will allow you to quickly adapt to the workflow of this position.
- Whether talking to patients about their lab results or scheduling tests and procedures at other healthcare facilities, your friendly and professional attitude projects through the phone.
- Your positive attitude and boundless compassion allow you to build rapport with our patients when greeting and screening them for necessary information.
- You have experience with phlebotomy and administering injections. Your attention to detail will ensure all treatment requirements are met and pre-authorizations are complete.
For your safety, keep this in mind:
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Any lifting should be limited to 40 pounds or less.
- This position will require standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- You will need manual dexterity, proper hand-eye coordination, full range of motion to possibly assist with lifting patients, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
We feel this position requires these basics:
- Your current BLS certification will be required upon hire as well.
- Lastly, we feel that you will be most successful with at least three years of practical nursing experience to provide you with the background needed for this position. Experience with oncology, hematology, urology, or other similar specialties is strongly preferred.
- The completion of an accredited practical nursing program is required as well as a Tennessee State Practical Nursing licensure.
