Job Description

The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centered 50 - 100% (20 - 40 hours a week) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in our UICC QuickCare (Walk-in) Clinics. Our licensed practical nurses are responsible to help a wide variety of patients from newborn to geriatric and ensures patient care standards are met and provides access to additional care options. This position is part of a dynamic and fast paced environment, rich with opportunities for learning and growth. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages team work between multiple disciplinary team to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients. Standard shifts will be primarily 10 - 12 hour shifts could vary based on clinic need.

Duties to include:

  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel. In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.

Percent of Time: 50 - 100% (20 - 40 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours between 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, rotating holiday and weekends and no on-call time, and primarily 10 - 12 hour shifts.

Salary: $42,244.80 - $62,940.80 / Hourly: $20.31 - $30.26 (based on years of experience)

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit. Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support provider.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATION:

  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

HIGHLY DESIRABLE REQUIREMENT:

  • Minimum one year experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse/LPN

Desirable Requirement

  • Previous Walk-In Clinic experience
