Special Notes to Applicants
J. Murrey Atkins Library, at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, is seeking a student or temporary employee to help develop a curated, robust online resource kit that will include reading lists, tools, and other materials that will enable communities across America, including K-12, public, college, and university libraries, to promote and facilitate free expression, constructive dialogue, and digital media literacy. The freely-available, Internet-based toolkit will include instructional resources that can be adapted by educators, library professionals, and community leaders across the country. The goal for this kit is to promote comfort in free expression, a willingness and preparedness to engage in constructive dialogue, and the concepts of digital media literacy, including misinformation, disinformation, and fake news.
The employee will search for authoritative resources in databases and the Internet, annotate them, organize them into a website, and conduct usability testing to improve the website before launch in consultation with project designers. Other activities will include outreach, writing for publication, and assessment.
